Doin' laundry and a vegetable follow up

These kittens jump in my son's laundry basket every chance they get.
I wonder if it's the socks?

My friend, Kerry, correctly ID'd this plant from yesterday's post.
My husband does just about everything with an eggplant (everything food-wize, that is).
Parmesan, marinated salad, or just sliced, breaded and fried.

Yes, eggplant, aka, aubergine, is pretty to look at, but it's not for me to eat.  Blech.
It's bitter and the texture is spongy.  I just can't take it.

One website I visited to find interesting facts said that long ago people thought eggplant was linked to
insanity, cancer, and leprosy.

Sounds like a good reason for me to just shoot it and find something else to eat.

Hi Amy, I wondered if that plant might have been an eggplant... I'm not crazy about them either --but people who like them really like them... I will choose many things before eggplant... ha

Have a great day. We are STILL waiting on RAIN. It went all around us last night.. Grrrrrr.
Hugs,
Betsy

I had no idea, but the eggplant appears to be doing well. As does the rest of your garden. Love the kittens! I think cats will get into just about any kind of box.

I'm with you on the eggplant! Yuck. Blech. But the flowers on it are pretty. The kitties are so sweet. Hope you have a great day!

The kittens are adorable. As for the eggplant...now I have a good reason for not eating it!

I love it fried, or smothered as eggplant parmigiana but never cook it, i love it in a restaurant but the few times i tried to cook it, it was not edible. i do know it has to be soaked in salt water i think before cooking and i found that out after i cooked it. it makes a great photo shoot and that is the MOST important thing

forgot to mention the kitties, soooo cute and baby girl, our hound, loves old clothes, dirty clothes, and especially clothes just out of the dryer. she will paw them off and lay on them if i leave them where she can get to them

Pretty kitties and pretty eggplant. I would eat them for you. Never mind, too far where ever you are.

Isn't kitty behavior so curious? As for the eggplant, you enjoy the photo and he enjoys the vege!

I'm not crazy about Eggplant, Amy. In fact, it's on a short list of founds I don't eat. HOWEVER! I have a friend who makes and sells all manner of hummus at farmer's markets and one of his hummus's is eggplant based. It's my FAVORITE. Go figure. I use it as a replacement for mayo in a lot of recipes.

I'm not too fond of it either, but I love the color called aubergine.

I have a one-track mind. Those kittens are soooo cute! Yep, I'll bet those socks smell just like chocolate to them!

I remember a cafeteria we once had in our nearby city that had an eggplant casserole that was yummy. I haven't had eggplant since.

Your kitties are cute. Mine loves to get in the laundry basket, too. Especially if it's clean laundry!

I will have to remember those reasons next time I am offered some eggplant. Not a favorite of mine either.
