What grows in the south . . .
. . . has pretty pink blooms . . .
. . . makes nice clothes . . .
. . . has cool pyramid shaped buds . . .
and surrounds my house this year?

What a beauty, Amy!

When I was a little bitty baby
My mama would rock me in the cradle,
In them old cotton fields back home;
It was down in Louisiana,
Just about a mile from Texarkana,
In them old cotton fields back home.
Oh, when them cotton bolls get rotten
You can't pick very much cotton,
In them old cotton fields back home.
Creedence Clearwater Revival
Lyrics by Huddie Ledbetter
If you're like me, now you'll be humming this tune all day long!
I never knew it had flowers. Gorgeous!
First time seeing a cotton blossom bloom! Gorgeous!
Beautiful! I've never seen one bloom, either!
Yes! Cotton fields back home :) Love the song and grew up around cotton. Still live near many fields of white!
Oh pretty! And I wouldn't have known it's cotton.
Oh pretty! And I wouldn't have known it's cotton.
I'm guessing cotton due to the clothes hint -- but it looks very much like Rose of Sharon.
Thank you for sharing at RT this week, Amy!
PS -- the coneflower photo I showed on blog yesterday (the second one) I took with the Sigma 500mm. Still trying to get comfortable with it.
I've never seen a cotton plant before and didn't know it had pink blooms. It's very pretty.
Cotton? Really? Had to peek at the comments. Very cool!
Wow, I had no clue that's the way cotton grows....of course, I live in New England and have never seen it...nice photos
So beautiful and I learned something new!
I saw a lot of cotton fields on a little trip we took last year. I didn't know the blooms were pink! It was neat seeing all the white of the cotton.
Lovely!
Gorgeous, Amy... Looks like life on the farm in Alabama is doing FINE.
Hugs,
Betsy
Cotton, cotton, and more cotton! Now I'm singing with Kathy!
I've seen lots of cotton fields on my trips south but never one that was in bloom. So I'm hoping that now I have.
I've lived in the south and southwest most of my life, but can't recall seeing cotton blossoms. They are beautiful.
This northerner has never seen a cotton plant, much less a cotton blossom. Lovely!
