"Likker"

Taken through a chain-link fence which was temporarily installed around the riverwalk area in downtown Nashville in August of this year.  There was a BBQ contest going on and you had to pay to get in.  We were too cheap to pay to walk around and sample bar-b-que, so we just peered through the fence like outsiders.

Marvin "Popcorn" Sutton was a moonshiner in Tennessee.  He claimed to make the best $%@&* "likker" anyone had ever tasted.

I would have liked to have seen Grand Funk Railroad, but we were leaving too early on the Saturday.  And, on Friday night, The Fabulous Thunderbirds might have gotten our money, but 9 p.m. is pretty much our bedtime even on a weekend outing.
I know, I know, pathetic.

Music City

Downtown Nashville is full of bars and honky tonks and just about all of them have live entertainment.

Cairo to Shanghai

I've been around the world again.  And all in an afternoon.

Cairo and Shanghai are just a few miles apart.

Jeepers

Powder Mill Hill
Near Lawrenceburg, Tennessee

I went back this weekend, but was not inspired by much.  It was mid-day and the sun made everything unattractive.  And, you know sometimes places and things (and people) seem all great and wonderful the first time . . . then you take a second look . . .

Anyway, I saw this cool Jeep.
Reckon those are bullet holes in the back window ?

I know some wonder how these old rusty things could be considered a top shot, but I'm still

Repost - Attalla

I learned something, thanks to Rita at Cashjockey's Photos and wanted to update this post.

Everyone but me probably already knew this, but for anyone who did not, and is interested in vintage anything and/or history, will like this.

This guy on the sign that I casually and ignorantly referred to as "the stick figure" is a celebrity.

He is Reddy Kilowatt and has his own dot org.

I'll let you do your own Googling for more info, but Wikipedia says that

"Reddy was created at the Alabama Power Company by Ashton B. Collins, Sr., and debuted March 11, 1926. He was subsequently licensed by some 300 electrical companies in the U.S. and abroad looking to sell homes on using the relatively new technology."

Reddy, please accept my apology and Rita, thanks so much for the fun information!

Just a random post from when I was in Attalla, Alabama for the US 11 Yard Sale in May.

The stick figure is obviously enjoying his electrocution.

And I liked this old building facade.
