The Spirit of Elvis

The Spirit of Elvis was taking a break in a rest stop along the Natchez Trace Parkway in Mississippi.  It had been to a car show in Tupelo, MS that weekend.

The owner could have been Elvis himself.
I wish I had a picture of him.

Mississippi - Part Two - Tupelo - Elvis

Before we get to Elvis here is one I meant to include in Part One.
For my theater collection.

On to The King . . .

I don't have the text for the marker up at the church.

It is a nice simple attraction right now.
There are more buildings, fountains, markers, timelines in stone, etc., and more construction in the works.
It will probably be complicated in the future.

We parked and walked a few yards to the little white home and I was satisfied.

Mississippi "adventure" - Part One - Tupelo

My husband, son, and I have had several really good vacations.
Niagara Falls, NYC, Grand Canyon/Vegas, Disney, beach trips, Colorado, cruise, just to name a few.
A few other good ones were had by just the two of us before our son was born.

Since our son is grown (at least to him) and in college and doesn't want to go with dear ole Mom and Dad any longer, we decided to make shorter trips.   Trips that are more for seeing real life places rather than "doing" things at commercial attractions designed for entertainment.

Another way to put that is "old people vacations".

We decided to see more of our neighboring state of Mississippi.
First stop, Tupelo via the Natchez Trace Parkway.

These guitars are all over the town.

Tupelo, MS is the home of Elvis Presley.
I like "young Elvis", but I am not crazy for him.
I insisted that we visit his childhood home - much to Hubby's dismay.
He wanted to just drive by.
Nope.

Up next . . .
The King's Birthplace in Tupelo.
