American

Powder Mill Hill
Somewhere between Lawrenceburg and Pulaski, Tennessee

So many times there is something in a photo that I wish I had looked at more closely at the time of the shot.
What is that pink thing on the left side of the porch?
This place is photo opp rich and only about thirty minutes from home and I had planned to go back anyway.
When it is cooler.  Much cooler.
Hey, the forecast shows ten degrees cooler next week.  Only 97!

Update:  Everyone is asking so many questions about this place . . .
There are three or four buildings with cool junk.  American Picker worthy junk.
I don't think they live there, but I'm sure nearby.  The owner said he and his dad had another business there from the 70s and it just grew into this.

Yes, this building is built over a creek.
There is a path along the creek from the back of the main store along the creek to this building.

It's just cool.

If you use my Label for Powder Mill Hill you can see a few other shots I've already posted.
I'll have a few more shots to post here and there from this visit.
Then, of course, when I go back . . .

The Yellow Baron

Taken from my back porch with a Tamron 18-270mm at 270.

He is a common sight in my little town.

The jet engine is a common sound.

He was probably fertilizing these corn fields near my house.

One year he fertilized the farmer's corn on my mother's property which surrounds my house.
I didn't like it so close to home, but the neighbor across the street called the cops, then showed up at my house himself with a gun in the car.

Needless to say, that farmer hasn't had corn here since I forbade crop dusting on the property.
I wonder if my neighbor complained this time.

Things go better with Coke

 . . . and even the carton.

The light was not good enough to stop the action (and there's always action with two kittens)
but you get the idea.

Barn Charm from my hometown

Another barn in my hometown.

These photos were taken on two different days.
One sunny, the other cloudy.

Scavenger Hunt

I decided to try Scavenger Hunt Sunday again.
This one was easier than last week's.  I was intimidated and didn't play :)

Warped
I considered using the Lensbaby for this topic.  Those shots look warped to me.
But I settled on something that bothers me every day.

Concentric Circles
A vintage film camera (is that redundant? - vintage - film camera)

Gear
An old music box

Glazed
My grandmother's old pottery.

Marble

Cones

Coneflowers.

Sometimes you need to look closer.

I always looked over these flowers at the nursery because the plant as a whole is not pretty to me.

The red/orange with the light pink seems so unusual to me.

These first two shots were taken in the shade on a sunny day and are SOOC.

The rest below were taken in the late evening and have noise reduction.
