London Bridge . . .

. . . was falling down, so someone moved it.
Across the ocean to Arizona.
Lake Havasu City, Arizona to be exact.

Believe it or not, this is one of only two shots I have from Lake Havasu.  We were there for a few hours in 2006 when we traveled to the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas.

Did you visit the falls? There's an underwater cave there & I saw on some vacation show that Tom Cruise swum under & into the cave a while back... I'm not a big fan of his, but a bit of trivia for ya! LoL! =)

That looks like a beautiful place. What a lot of trouble to get a bridge. But Wisconsin doesn't have a bridge that once spanned the Thames, so I think it's pretty cool!

Did you notice that all the individual blocks are numbered? It was disassembled, shipped, and put back together much like a jigsaw puzzle. I lived in Arizona for almost 40 years and went to see the bridge once. I think we Americans only think about visiting places if they are far away. I was astounded when moving there how few locals had ever been to the Grand Canyon. It didn't take long to adopt the same attitude!

Wonderful photograph - the bridge looks very settled. When I was watching the flotilla of vessels sailing down the River Thames (to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee) the other day I began to wonder how London Bridge was getting on in USA and now I know. Thank you for answering my unspoken question.

We owned a little parcel of land here and visited quite a few times. The city of Lake Havasu is set in some beautiful desert, made more amazing by the lake at its doorstep. Yet the bridge always seemed a little silly to us. It was moved there by the original developer in an effort to attract more tourists. That it did. But it still seems kind of peculiar.
