Maybe only animals can be whispered, but my husband has petted a wild blackberry patch into about two acres. He alternates cutting half of it each year because they bear fruit on old growth. I told him if he would cut in rows that I might help him pick.
He's not a hill-billy.
He's a better man than I am to dress like that in 94 degrees with 90% humidity on a sunny day, cover yourself in Deet to ward off chiggers to get a gallon of wild blackberries.
Here's the product.
Yum.Yum

That looks fantastic! He's done a great job!
A good man and so worth the energy. Awesome pics and now I am craving blackberries. B
Those look delicious!
Ours haven't ripened yet but it won't be long. Maybe I should send my hubby out to be a whisperer. :)
Your cobbler looks scrumptious!
I am sure that you're saving me a piece of that fantastic blackberry pie!
I've picked blackberries, and I'll have to say that your husband really loves you or loves blackberries or both - to go through all the heat and briars to get to those berries! :-)
Great pictures and a heroic man!
I hope the pie taste good!
oh my gosh, do you think you could send me a big piece up here in virginia?! that looks yummy and what a good hubby!
I made blackberry cobbler last week. Isn't it just divine?
Yum is right!!
Looks delicious and making me hungry.
He may not be a whisperer but he sure is a prince. And he reaped the rewards of his work with a lovely cobbler made by you. Yummm.
Hard workin' hubbies. Bless 'em.
Thank you for sharing at Rural Thursdays this week. xoxo
In my book, there's nothing that makes a better dessert in summer than Blackberry Cobbler and ice cream! What a guy :)
oh my goodness! yum!
Yum!! The cobbler looks so good. I remember wearing long pants and sleeves in the heat to pick them as a child. One year I did not and ended up with a sunburn and chiggers - Not smart!
I bought some at the grocery recently and they were not like what I remember at all.
Thanks for stopping by and comment.
Enjoy your weekend.
oh can i please have some?? it looks devine!!
Beautiful pictures and you are making me hungry! I remember picking blackberries as a kid, now I pick them out of the freezer section of the grocery store. We were always covered in chiggers, plus it was always hot and I always got sticker scratches. But my biggest fear was snakes. I saw one once and forever after have been afraid of wading out in wild berry patches.
You have a real keeper there. I do not know many men who would do so much work to get a gallon of berries.
Wonderful photos and you have my mouth watering I love blackberry cobbler with ice cream.. YUM!!
Yum! Ya'll make a great pair. He gardens and cooks and you photograph and enjoy! Ha!
He definitely has a gift! I love those wonderful blackberries...I want to try to grow some here! Yes...YUM!
