This barn was in my hometown and was built by my Great Grandfather.
The barn collapsed about two years ago.
I didn't take the photo. A friend did and I'm so glad he did.
I edited it a few years ago to include my Great Grandparents.
The barn is pictured in this book, but it is just a small black and white in the back.
Rock City Barns - A Passing Era

And here is an article about the barn painter, Clark Byers, from the NY Times.
Do you have a Rock City Barn in your area?

I'm so glad you have the picture of your Great Grandfather's barn. I love how you incorporated your Great Grandparents in the picture.
I remember that barn!

What a wonderful job you have done merging the two photos. It is wonderful. So sorry it fell down...but that is continuing to happen here, too..so sad. Your picture is beautiful. genie
aww. glad you have that photo! thanks for sharing!
I like the way you edited that photo! Excellent!
Oh, Amy, I love your edited version of the barn. It is wonderful.
It's a great barn, and the sign on it is so cool! It's even better that you have a family connection.
It's great you have that photo and I love how you edited the photo and added your grandparents.
I live in the city so I rarely see barns and pieces of greeneries. Your great grandparents left a great legacy to your family. I love the picture and I'm sure the barn looks better for real. Though as you said, it already collapsed, I still admire it in the picture. Priceless!
These barns are right up there with the Mail Pouch Barns. A real piece of Americana.
Love your edit - a wonderful tribute.
That is so awesome, Amy! I love the advertising. It's a shame it collapsed, but so glad you got a photo from someone. Your edit with your grandparents is fantastic!
I absolutely LOVE how you added your great grandparents to the photo! Very meaningful! Lucky you to have these treasured photos.
That is so neat to incorporate your g-grands in the photo- very nice.
I love your edited photo with your grandparents! Being a West Coast gal I don't remember the Rock City barns, but do remember seeing many Mail Pouch barns when I was a kid.
That is so neat that your Grandpa built that. No Rock City barns, but I think I was there when I was a kid. For Ohio's Bicentennial (I think) they painted a barn in each county with an state logo. The poor guy spent years doing it, but they are sort of neat to see.
oh that is so neat and i love your edited version with your grandparents...so sad though that it is no longer with us...we don't have any rock city barns around here but i did see them in and around chatanooga and i have a miniature one hanging in my house :)
What a great job you did of editing! WoW!
There used to be Meramec Caverns ads painted on signs around here a long time ago, but I haven't seen any since I was a kid.
So sorry it's collapsed, what a shame
Thanks for joining =)
Great barn...such a lovely post.
I love this, Amy. What a NEAT keep sake.
Yes, we have them here. But, it is the same idea with a different cavern. Meremec Cavern's to be exact.
