Passion flowers

I ran across (literally with a wheel barrow) these flowers in a field that needs cutting at our place.  My husband said they were "maypod flowers".  He said they used to hit the pods with a baseball bat to bust them.  I guess that's what Chattanooga kids did for fun in the late 60s out in the fields that are now Hamilton Place Mall :)

That very night I found an article about them in the new Country Living magazine.
They are Passion Flowers!

Who knew?

Probably everyone except moi.

Not me. They sure are beautiful and much more deserving than a hit by one of those boy's baseball bats. Boys! lol

Something wants me to call them maypops. That's probably wrong! They are some funky looking flowers! :)

I have never seed or heard of these flowers. What interesting petals. And purple, my favorite.

This is such an unusual and quite beautiful flower! The fringy petals remind me of hippies from the 60s. Groovy, man. Ha!

No matter what the name they are lovely. Perhaps you should transplant them to your garden.
