Yes, that is a house finch. I hadn't heard about the eye disease. I wonder what's causing that. I didn't see as many of them around last summer as I have in the past.
It is beautiful...I always question whether they are house finch or purple finch....I usually settle on house finch. I just googled difference between them and I think this is the house finch for sure.

It is! And yes, I saw many of them here over the summer that looked like that. They are beautiful and add some nice color to the winter.
