Flying

I believe this is an American Pelican.
Wilson Lake, Tennessee River, The Shoals, North Alabama

Hey, Brian King.
I'm going to do this as well as you one of these days.

Smile.

my favorite bird is the pelican, that second one made me sigh with joy at those dipping wings.

they're amazing! So evidently they don't all have that deep beak, the one I learned a little poem about when I was a kid: 'The pelican, the pelican, his mouth can hold more than his belly can.' (Yes, I have a plethora of these in my little brain!) Love that second photo especially.

I appreciate the compliment, Amy, but based on these, I'd say you've already done it! Excellent photos! The blue water background is beautiful! It makes the pelican really stand out. The focus is dead on which isn't easy with flight shots.

Fabulous shots! Capturing birds in flight is not easy but you did great here. You're right up there with Brian in my book! Way to go Amy!

Perfect capture. I like how you also managed to get his reflection on the water surface.

I think you're absolutely right. If I recall correctly, they're one of our largest birds.
