Is my belly red?

Found this guy at the base of a big tree on the golf course.  I'm glad I had the camera with me.  He didn't seem to mind us being about 15 feet away on the cart path.
It appears that this is a red bellied woodpecker.
Can someone tell me why?  Because I don't see any red on that belly.

I believe if you could pick him up and turn him over, you would see a bit of red shading on his underside. Great pic!

You can't quite see it in this photo but they do have like Roan said a bit of red shading on their belly.
Nice capture.

Sometimes the red is so faint...just a light wash. I wonder if breeding season makes it redder? Anyway, a terrific shot! Sharp, crisp...my favorite kind. And you got him collecting nesting material it appears. Way to go!

Wonderful shot! The red is usually so far down on his belly that it's rarely seen.
