This year there have been white pelicans in our waters.
I understand that this is somewhat of a rarity for our area here in northwest Alabama.
I captured these from the golf course which is on a creek from the Tennessee River.

I do not have a good wildlife lens so bear with me here.
This last shot is from the Elk River, also just a few miles away from my home.

How beautiful! What I know about pelicans came from 'Pelican Brief,' a movie lol- and a poem I learned when I was a little kid: 'The pelican, the pelican. His mouth can hold more than his bellycan.' :-) What beautiful and interesting creatures!
These are simply wonderful. The last shot really depicts the large number. Glad you got to see them!
Love these big birds. They are huge!
I've seen some of these, on lakes here in Texas.
Not this many, though.
Great photos.
Wow, look at them all, they certainly do catch ones eye!
That is quite a sight! I bet it was amazing to see in person. Love your photos...great captures!
such a clear day. so beautiful. ( :
We saw pelicans south of here, too...at some wetlands. Hoping they eventually come here but doubt that they will.
