One of my favorite barns

One of my favorite barn settings.  I've looked at it for a few years.

I enjoy doing macros with a series of apertures and seeing the different depths of field or DOF.

The wider (smaller f number) your shutter opening (aperture), the more shallow the focus will be.

This is not a perfect study because I did not use a tripod and you can see I did have varying distances in these since I was holding the camera.

The lens was maybe 1 foot away from the group of flowers.

I thought my focus point was consistent, but evidently I missed it on the first shot.

I forget my flower anatomy, but those white tips on the ?stamen? of the azalea always get my attention.

Maybe I need to get a microscope.

I think I like the f3.5 better.

Noblit-Lytle House

The same dreary day as my previous two or three posts.

There is a barn, of course, but I'll save that for Barn Charm.

I missed the composition on the fence photos.

Heads shouldn't be chopped off in photos - including fences.

Random Eclectic

My girl, Pearl.

Have you really ever looked at cat's fur?  It's striking.

After numerous attempts (over many years and multiple cats) at getting a really clear fur photo, 

I think I'm giving up.

Handheld + purring/breathing cat makes it impossible, at least for me.

Tripod = cat running away.

Eliminating the purring/breathing part = morbid.

So, I'll be happy with this one.

Dreary but still charming

It was a dreary day on Hwy 11 in Giles County Tennessee, but my friend and I took a few hundred photos anyway.

This farm is directly across the road from the Oxford Cemetery from this post on my main blog.

You can see the long white cemetery sign just above the hay bales.  Have I ever gotten a photo of the cemetery sign?  Of course not.  I always miss some of the best shots.  And it's a sign with character, too.
