I am happy to see any last vestige of color, Amy! Soon it will be all brown and gray and dreary looking; except the winter wheat across the drive :) Lovely photo.
I hope you will nurture it. If you do, you will end up with a small bush. One of my crepe myrtles died years ago but a bit of root survived and started shooting upwards. I left it alone and now I have a little bush next to my remaining two trees.
