He is the first colorful bird I've seen around the house in a couple of months. No Cardinals, Blue Jays, Blue Birds, Finches of any kind have been seen. We wonder if the drought in our area has them living elsewhere.

Wow. My blog is still here. It's been how many weeks -- months since I was here last?
Is anybody out there?
Had to post this guy.
Juvenile male Summer Tanager
He is getting his red/orange coloring, slowly but surely.
Hope I can spot him again from the kitchen window.

My first photo taken this year. And it's with the iPhone. But I just had to turn around and get this. Too bad that fence post is right in the center. Seems there is always a car behind me and I rush.

A brand new coloring book for myself.
Will I actually use the colored pencils I also bought and fill up the pages?
Doubt it. But it does look good on my coffee table.
And made a pretty picture, too.

In September I visited the Huntsville Botanical Gardens with a long time friend.
Yes, September. Yes, I'm behind.
This "hay house" was cute with all the gourd decor.

The butterfly house was open in September which was our primary reason for going. I'm still kickin'. Well, maybe not kickin' exactly, but getting by.
Here is the extent of summer action around the place.

The blueberries are almost ready.
This photo is from last year, but the same holds true right here and now. Last year we had a bumper crop. I gave them away, and still have bags in the freezer. There does not look like as many on the bushes this year. I'm kinda glad.

Hello all.
I am happy to announce that Tom, The Backroads Traveller, would like to take up the barn meme. Currently, we are experimenting with my existing linkup on his blog, so bear with us. It might not go perfectly (or go at all) at first.
Many thanks to Tom!!!

Broccoli gone to seed in my husband's garden last spring.
Currently, his garden spot is grown up in weeds as he was not able to plant anything this year before he died. I'm not sure what I'll do with it next year, but I'm going to keep the fence up and keep the weeds beat down this year until I decide. Rest in peace, my sweet husband.
My husband, Tony, passed away this past week. He was a wonderful man, husband, father, son, brother.
We miss him very much.

This is one of my favorite barns from a few years ago. One day the pretty rusty roof had been painted or replaced.
We have been home from the hospital for a few days now. My husband had a partial hip replacement due to the cancer going there. This is a repost from a few years ago. I am not able to keep up much these days. My husband has been in the hospital for over a week. I hope to be able to get back soon to whatever our normal is these days.

These were taken from I-65 in Franklin, Tennessee, hence, the blurriness. Beautiful farms are everywhere in middle Tennessee. And yes, this one has Buffalo (or Bison, are they the same?) The Buffalo are in front of two large mansions on rolling hills. I have never found out for certain if they belong to famous country music stars or actresses, but it has been Amy Burzesehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10603247185748005749noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5629275525030467097.post-71200861720175046182015-03-20T11:40:00.000-05:002015-03-20T17:53:47.450-05:00Pioneering
A friend and I went to a photography event a few weeks ago. The field trip we went on was to an abandoned site of a pioneer village type attraction. I got a few interesting shots. There were several items that didn't quite fit into the classic pioneer time frame. I suppose it depends on what you are pioneering.

Whoo. I've lost my motivation to get out and work on my barn collection, so I'm cheating a little.
This painting was done by my Mother several years ago. She does quite well, and rural scenes are her favorite, so you may be seeing more of her work.
This is one of my favorites. It has it all: red barn, dirt road, fence, big tree, round bales, summer Amy Burzesehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10603247185748005749noreply@blogger.com16
